God is love, the cross is a symbol of renewed life. There is simply too much hate in the world.

Based on the hate I've seen in the past 20 years, I'd say the Christian cross makes for a pretty good symbol.

I comprehend that view and completely understand. I guess I choose to believe the black man more intelligent and view the ignorance, arrogance, and lack of intelligence as just that.

Society has stereotyped the "rebel" or "redneck" as a stupid individual, usually inbred.

I do appreciate the insight. Thanks for sharing your views.

"I just don’t believe a “dirty word” is dirty because society says it is. It is only a word that society defines, like everything else."

- I hear you on that... To a black man though, the confederate flag symbolizes hate in history.

I ask myself, is the Confederate Flag, hate or history? Is it a design on a famous car "General Lee"?

I think your daughter has a good idea to not want to be labeled. As long as she's doing alright in school then there's no need to get labeled as ADD. I was diagnosed by a shrink with ADHD when I was ten. I also made straight A's before they ever messed with me, so I think society's tendency to relate ADD to academic performance has no basis.

Sure the work goes slower when you going off on a tangent all the time. But why not go on tangents? life is interesting. Some things demand immedate interest, if only because they are shiney.

I don't think there's been any real limitations place on me because I was diagnosed. however, I remember really being bothered by it at the time. It's odd for a ten year old to come to grips with the fact they've been diagnosed as crazy. They also found me to be bi-polar. And then the shrinks want to test you through all different types of medications to help "fix" you. Then you get old enough to realize that you really don't need to be 'fixed'--thankyou very much society.

I consider bi-polars, at least the lesser cases, to be people with personality. And ADD people, well they're just surviving in the digital age with cell phones and computers. People tend to be on the interenet doing eight things at once. Seriously in the net age, it's those of us who can focus on nine things that'll be successful.
